Best Retinols for Me..... So Far!

Best Retinols for Me - thumbnail.jpg

As I approach 60, good skin care products are more and more important! I tried Retin-A some time ago but didn’t have a good result. The products I’m trying now are retinols.

The first time I tried the Roc retinol, I used it according to the package’s directions, which was to use it every night. Well, that turned out badly! I had dryness and redness that wasn’t temporary. It wouldn’t go away until I stopped using the retinol altogether for several weeks.

The next time I tried it, I used the RoC Retinol Correxion Max Wrinkle Resurfacing System. The key is, for the first month, I used it one night a week. The second month I used it two nights a week. And the third month I used it three times a week and have remained at that frequency.

I’ve used this Roc product twice now and really liked that my skin got smoother over time. But I wanted to try other brands.

Next, I called the Customer Service team at Paula’s Choice to discuss what products might work well for me. We settled on two. The Paula's Choice Clinical 1% Retinol Treatment is the stronger of the two. I decided to purchase the travel size. This one actually worked quite well. I didn’t get a negative reaction or any dryness or redness.

The other product I bought was Paula's Choice Resist Intensive Wrinkle Repair Retinol Serum. This is a lighter version of retinol and I really could use this more than three times a week if I wanted to.

Three other nights a week I use Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Gel (beta-hydroxy). The alpha-hydroxy products (AHA) never worked well for me. This BHA is great for redness and any leftover “face stuff” you have from your teen years.

What I’d like to know is whether you’ve tried the brand “The Ordinary”? Their prices really can’t be beat! If you’ve tried their retinols, please write a comment on this blog post or over on the video on YouTube. Thank you.1
