Broccoli sprouts are a great veggie to add to salads, eat alone with dressing, or even add to smoothies. Broccoli has sulforaphane which can help to boost our natural defense against carcinogens. In broccoli sprouts, the concentration is even better.

Making your own sprouts at home is easy and cheap! DIY sprouts - I'll show you how to make sprouts! (Also, check out the video - a link is further down below.)

See below for the link to the article about researcher Paul Talalay and his findings years ago about the nutrition in broccoli and specifically in broccoli sprouts.

Researcher Paul Talalay found that broccoli sprouts can boost the body’s defenses against cancer.

I use a sprouting jar from NOW Foods to make sprouts. (See “PRODUCTS” below!)

Start by soaking a couple tablespoons of broccoli sprouting seeds in the sprouting jar. Let it soak overnight.

The following morning, pour out the soaking water, rinse the seeds, pour out the rinse water….

….and then set the jar at an angle as shown in the photo.

Rinse and drain the sprout seeds twice a day. (If you’re in a hot climate, rinse and drain three times a day.)

You’ll rinse and drain the sprouts twice a day for a few days as you wait for the sprouts to grow.

When the sprouts are done, if you want you can freeze small amounts by wrapping a handful of sprouts in plastic wrap and placing those “wraps” into a freezer bags. Later, you can add these to smoothies by adding them to the smoothie blender.
